Plot: Sarah Daniels teaches in Lancaster where the majority of students are coloreds, especially blacks. She soon develops a deep prejudice,hatred, and even fear of blacks, and even avoids sitting next to black males while traveling on the subway. When she finds out about a vacancy in Belmont College in Vermont, a community, she believes is predominantly Caucasian, she re-locates there. Once there, she does not disclose her prejudice about blacks and settles down to teach her students.

But her past will come to re-visit after an African-American student, Simon Brick, becomes the target of a hate crime. The Management of Belmont College respond by staging a forum, and paying some 'lip service'. But after more incidents take place against Simon, and with heavy media presence, the Management, who has already labeled her as a 'minority liaison person', asks her to prepare a ten point list to resolve racism.

When teenaged Charlie Banks (Eisenberg) witnessed a handsome bully named Mick (Jason Ritter, Freddy Vs. Jason) beat up two other boys, he tells the police--but then, feeling like a rat, withdraws his testimony so that Mick gets released. A few years later, when Mick suddenly appears at Charlie’s dorm for a visit, Charlie lives in dread that his betrayal will be revealed. But as Mick successfully woos the girl Charlie’s in love with, Charlie and Mick grown enmeshed in mutual envy and reluctant admiration. The Education of Charlie Banks aspires to be a preppy version of The Great Gatsby (just to make that clear, the characters twice make references to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel), peppered with philosophical allusions to Hannah Arendt and Jacques Derrida. Unfortunately, despite Charlie and Mick’s backstory, these kids just don’t have enough of a past to seem driven or haunted--they just flounder like any other bunch of boozing, horny college students. Mick comes across as a junior-varsity Tom Ripley, more stalker than star-crossed. Plot: Early on, The Education of Charlie Banks has all the makings of a corny coming-of-age melodrama about a couple of New York City working-class underdogs making the Ivy League grade and winning the approval of the moneyed power brokers of the future.

But Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's directorial debut – his second feature, The Longshots, was released first, last summer – soon evolves into an earnest, if romanticized, examination of the American class system in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and the eternally confounding politics of acceptance and exclusion. Charlie (Jesse Eisenberg), a bookish and clumsy teenager whose parents run a book store in Greenwich Village, and his rebellious buddy Danny (Christopher Marquette), earn their entrée into an expensive rural college and find themselves in the privileged ranks of a cluster of self-absorbed trust-fund babies. But their past – in the form of Mick (Jason Ritter), a violent street tough from their old neighbourhood whom Charlie once ratted out – suddenly catches up with them, and their new life begins to crumble.

Prevailing upon class allegiances, Mick takes up residence "for a few days" in Charlie's and Danny's dorm, but his rough charm and rugged ways soon endear him to the larger clique, particularly to the winsome Mary (Eva Amurri), with whom Charlie has fallen in love at a respectful distance. Mick accepts no barriers, no conventions, and as the semester draws on, he becomes an increasingly active member of the college community and an amusing chum to the gang's leading man, Leo (Sebastian Stan), a raffish, unimaginably wealthy playboy-in-the-making with a serious drinking problem.

It's as much a surprise to Charlie when Mick's presumptions and pretensions – he starts to imagine he's a permanent part of this world – and his brute response to hints of non-acceptance set up potentially tragic consequences. With Gatsby crumbs strewn throughout writer Peter Elkoff's script and the fatalistic, F. Scott Fitzgerald-like tone Durst brings to the deepening drama, it can't be said that The Education of Charlie Banks breaks new ground. Its revelations are old news. But the characters are handled sensitively and intelligently – Ritter makes a compelling toad who wants to be a prince – and Durst moves the story forward with great care and assurance, paying respectful attention to period details (soundtrack, clothes, mannerisms, language) without making a spectacle of them.

Max (Spencer Berger) is facing a crisis; he has always wanted to be a writer but on the day before his 25th birthday, he realizes that this will never happen. He becomes desperate and has reached the point in his life that he has no ideas to write about so he turns to crime which seems to give him a new passion but sends his two best friends off on a journey. Tommy (Brian T. Phelan), his slacker friend enters the job market and Dave (Gabriel Tiger man) becomes completely obsessed with writing the perfect apology letter. Throw a love interest, Lucy (Kerry Knapped), into this and decision time comes upon the group. In only three days, the lives of out characters are turned completely upside down and all because they think that larceny might be the best and only thing they can do. This is a very funny look at how a man can become a robber at the drop of a pin. The dialog is smart and witty and the viewer is taken on a fast ride to an unknown destination. Spencer Berger is not only the stat but the writer and both his acting and his script are full of charm. His white man's Afro hair cut is amazing and the lesson of what to do when one has no talent is a winner. This is the kind of film that becomes a cult classic and it can be seen over and over and still entertain.

The "Leave It to Beaver" family unit, so persistently idealized in the pop culture, was merely a mask which hid beneath it the face of a collective scarred psyche.

The story being told here is about one specific family. Morgan Dews, the filmmaker, inherited a trove of materials when, in 2001, his maternal grandmother died, age 90. These materials, which make up almost the entirety of this film, included, among other things, hundreds of hours of dictaphone and tape recordings, photographs, and super-8 home movies. Although the home movies by and large show what you'd expect, idyllic scenes of a happy family, the audio recordings tell a completely different tale. What once was a happy marriage has degraded into a marital war zone, fought out in middle-class suburban Connecticut, a world where emotional, psychological, and even occasional physical abuse mar the landscape, and the four children are caught in the crossfire. Dews' grandmother Allis, in her younger years, lived in Europe as a somewhat accomplished singer, married to one of the renowned tenors of the day. She was of a continental and generally worldly set, but her stay over there was cut short abruptly by the outbreak of WWII. After moving back to the States, she met and fell in love with Charley, the filmmakers grandfather. As time went on, they had children, four in all, including the director's mother Anne, and his three uncles. Charley got a better job, and as they moved in to a bigger house in suburban Connecticut, their domestic life began to come apart at the seams. Charley is becoming more and more of an alcoholic, spending months at a time overseas for his work, and cavorting about with various women (the couple had an open relationship.) Allis, for her part, is increasingly stifled by the pressures of keeping a home, especially since she was accustomed to the bon vivant lifestyle of a European artist from her earlier life. Anne, the daughter, escaped as soon as she could, leaving home and getting married. It wasn't so easy for the three brothers, unfortunately, as they were at home to bear witness to the increasingly hostile environment inhabited by their parents. Psychotherapy, which is a constant theme in this movie, is of no help, as the chauvinist doctors assure Allis that everything is her fault, and that her husband is doing the best he can in the face of all of this.

Plot: Filmmaker Morgan Dews was very close to his grandmother Allis, but it wasn’t until after her death in 2001 that he became aware of an astounding archive she’d amassed throughout the 1960s. Filled with startlingly intimate and candid audio recordings detailing her family’s increasingly turbulent lives, the collection also contained hundreds of silent home movies, photographs and written journals. Using only these found materials, Dews has fashioned a searing family portrait that affords fly-on-the-wall access to one family’s struggles amid an America on the verge of dramatic transformation.

Must Read After My Death follows Allis, her husband Charley and their four children in Hartford, Connecticut. Charley’s work takes him to Australia four months each year, so the couple purchases Dictaphone recorders as a way to stay in touch throughout Charlie’s extended absences. A modern woman at least a decade ahead of her time, Allis struggles against conformity – against the conventional roles of wife and mother. She finds the recordings cathartic and, with the family’s cooperation, incorporates them into their everyday existence. When the family turns to psychologists and psychiatrists, their strife increases and the recordings turn progressively darker – even desperate. All the while, Dews employs the family’s many home movies and the seemingly placid, typically American façade that they convey, as visual counterpoint to the raw and sobering tape recordings.

Composer and recording artist Paul Damian Hogan of Frances has created a lush and engrossing score. Renowned Design Director, Lisa Kwon, fashioned stellar graphics and animated sequences for the film. Executive Producer, Alison Bourke was Executive Producer on This Film is Not Yet Rated and Z Channel: a magnificent obsession. Brett Graves mixed the sound at Creative Bubble.Mark Lipsky, Brian Devine and Brooke Devine of Gigantic Releasing will be releasing the film theatrically in the English speaking world!!!

Plot: Seth and Evan are best friends, inseparable, navigating the last weeks of high school. Usually shunned by the popular kids, Seth and Evan luck into an invitation to a party, and spend a long day, with the help of their nerdy friend Fogell, trying to score enough alcohol to lubricate the party and inebriate two girls, Jules and Becca, so they can kick-start their sex lives and go off to college with a summer full of experience and new skills. Their quest is complicated by Fogells falling in with two inept cops who both slow and assist the plan. If they do get the liquor to the party, what then? Is sex the only rite of passage at hand?

Plot: After a lonely summer on Privet Drive, Harry returns to a Hogwarts full of ill-fortune. Few of students and parents believe him or Dumbledore that Voldemort is really back. The ministry had decided to step in by appointing a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher that proves to be the nastiest person Harry has ever encountered. Harry also cant help stealing glances with the beautiful Cho Chang. To top it off are dreams that Harry cant explain, and a mystery behind something Voldemort is searching for. With these many things Harry begins one of his toughest years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

  • Evanna Lynch beat 15000 girls and 29 finalists for the role of Luna. When it came to viewing the finalists, she was the ninth person in the audition videos and one of the producers, David Barron stopped viewing after her saying, "She is Luna." Unknown to them, Lynch actually wrote a letter directly to J.K. Rowling.
  • The Department of Mysteries set marks the first time that a totally computer-generated set was used throughout the movie. Plot Outline: An ancient struggle re-erupts on Earth between two extraterrestrial clans, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, with a clue to the ultimate power held by a young teenager.

Plot: A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the noble Autobots (led by the wise Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captains glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captains ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captains glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens...

This well-written, non-linear tale of time travel, future technology, and multi-faceted relationships set me on edge from the start, built up the tension in my gut, and then ever so slowly and seemingly by measure, provided answers to the big and little questions that had nagged me. Walking into the theater for the Dances With Films Festival viewing, I accepted what I was about to see as an independent film. But walking out, I felt like this was the stuff of classics, where lines and situations will become the standards for future projects. If you're a Hitchcock fan like me, you'll appreciate the subtle and not so subtle details that are peppered throughout in the main, as well as the sub-stories. My only criticism would be that at this point I cannot buy it to see it again and again and again, and this story is haunting me.

    Plot: Traveling in 11-minute increments, a time-tumbler from 48-years in the future spends two years of his life weaving through a two-hour wedding reception. I saw "Eleven Minutes Ago" and and was quickly drawn into the world of time travel and the alluring cast of characters. This is a romance worthy of watching to the last frame. The special effects of this movie are imbued in the relationships and the plot. Tune in if you like a bevy of sexy women and their suitors. If you are looking for a message:" Our lives are brief, be present, risk everything for love." Two thumbs up
